Larry Madrid Inducted into the Academy of Geo-Professionals, 2010

The Academy of Geo-Professional (AGP), held its third induction ceremony on February 21st in West Palm Beach, FL at the Geo-Florida 2010 Geotechnical Conference. During the event, Larry Madrid, MSc, PE, D.GE was inducted in the ceremony; he is one of only 160 geotechnical engineers worldwide with this designation. Over 30 engineers were inducted with the Diplomate, Geotechnical Engineering (D.GE) credential. Qualifications include at least 8 years (post-licensure) in the geotechnical field, a P.E., and a Masters or equivalent.
 
"Specialty certification provides an advanced certificate of achievement, which greatly enhances the engineer's career development. It also gives the public further confidence in the competence of our geo-professionals" said Arlan Rippe, P.E., D.GE, F.ASCE, AGP president.

 

The AGP is an independent organization that is associated with the ASCE GeoInstitute, the Deep Foundations Institute and other professional organizations.

OUTGOING SBA 8(a) COMPANY OF THE YEAR 

Madrid Engineering Group, Inc. (MEG) was awarded the top graduating 8(a) company by the US Small Business Administration South Florida office in Miami.  As part of this selection, MEG was nominated for the national award, given at a ceremony in Washington DC.  The 8(a) program is a  business development program that allows small businesses to have more opportunities to obtain federal government contracts.   MEG was in particular singled out for its innovations in the area of chemical stabilization of waste phosphatic clay, known as PhosphoCrete, and its patented process to significantly reduce phosphate from stormwater runoff and non-point source pollution, called Phos-Filter.
