Kevin Hill’s business card has a few more letters behind his name: it’s now Kevin Hill, PE, PMP, if you please. Mr. Hill recently took and passed the Project Management Professional (PMP) exam, a globally recognized program of the Project Management Institute (PMI). “We’re extremely proud of Kevin. It’s not easy to become a PMP”, said Larry Madrid, President of Madrid Engineering Group, Inc. “It requires a four year bachelor’s degree, a minimum of 3 years of project management experience, 4500 documented hours of leading and directing projects, and 35 hours of project management education.”

Kevin, along with several other Madrid employees, took a project management class at Polk State College’s new Corporate College campus east of Bartow, then he followed up with lots of study and finally, passed the exam. The class was customized to include specifically utilized scenarios from the engineering world that Kevin works in to provide practical and hands-on learning experiences.

Prior to completing this recent program, Kevin had already been a project manager at Madrid Engineering for several years and managed hundreds of geotechnical investigations throughout Florida, including subsidence investigations for insurance sinkhole claims. However, this project management training was initiated due to the extreme variety of projects, from small ones to mega-projects, that Kevin now manages. The designation PMP shows our clients that we utilize the best practices to develop, monitor and advance their projects to a successful conclusion.
